Experience the essence of winter in the San Luis Valley at the in Alamosa, Colorado. The entire weekend is brimming with enjoyable winter activities, featuring the Rio Frio 5K, captivating ice carving and sculptures, an icy bonfire, the exhilarating Polar Plunge, and the whimsical ice carousel. The Rio Frio 5K, renowned for being run on the frozen Rio Grande every last weekend in January, unfolds in conjunction with the annual Ice Fest. Additionally, the Valley Bottom Rio Trio, an adventure-style triathlon involving biking, paddling, and running along and on the Rio Grande, is a noteworthy event scheduled annually for early June. This year's festival spans from Friday to Sunday, January 26th to 28th, 2024, at various locations around Alamosa.
