Celebrating their 25th Annual Chinese New Year, the Colorado Springs Chinese Cultural Institute introduces the Year of the Dragon at the Ent Center for the Arts at UCCS. In collaboration with UCCS DEI Outreach and Education and UCCS Asian Studies, the event on February 17, 2024, features two performances at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. The celebration includes traditional lion dance, Taiko drummers, Asian dances, martial arts, the Dragon Dance, and more. Explore a "Chinatown" with merchants, a Tea House for sampling Asian teas, and a Kid's Zone for children's activities. Authentic Asian food trucks will be present, and doors open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The lunar-based festival represents the Year of the Dragon, symbolizing power, nobility, honor, luck, and success for those born in 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000, 2012, and 2024. Tickets available in January at EntCenterfortheArts.org and cscci.org range from $10 to $15, with free admission for children under 5.
