Embracing the enchanting world of snow and ice, the , held annually in January, transforms the town into a captivating canvas of frozen artistry. From January 22nd to January 31st, 2024, visitors can witness the magic unfold at 150 West Adams Avenue, around the Riverwalk Center. This free event welcomes teams from across the globe to engage in a friendly battle, hand-carving 20-ton blocks of snow into colossal, intricate masterpieces. The unique challenge lies in the sculptors' constraint to employ only hand tools, with power tools strictly prohibited. Over a meticulous five-day period, these artists delicately chip away, revealing their awe-inspiring works in a quest to be crowned the ultimate snow sculpture champions. The event not only showcases incredible talent but also invites the public to marvel at the beauty created from the simplicity of snow.
